Terry Dee
Ever find yourself typing "Terry Dee" into Google? Well, I happen to know that you probably don't. However, if you're one of the 14 people that seem to do this every month, I'm #1 on the results list. Go me! Pretty much, I'll be bringing back the autobiography here; no one else wanted to write this, so expect a lot of "I's" and "me's".
For nearly 5 years, I have been forging a professional design career (see: making pretty pictures) in Victoria BC. From magazine production, electronic signage, all the way down to the simplest of business cards, I've had the opportunity to get my feet wet in a wide range of creative processes. I'm also excited to say, that I've finally dropped the "junior designer" label you're saddled with right out of school. That's a pretty big deal for me, as it's meant that I survived the initial shock of the real world and it looks like I'm going to make it...only 40 more years to go.
My schooling took place in Kamloops, BC at Thompson Rivers University (formally The University College of the Cariboo) where I graduated at the top of my class in the Digital Art and Design program. The structure of the program had a strong influence on not only my passion for design, but it also prepared me for what lay ahead. Details, details, details; that's what I learned, or at least what I remember. If you find a spelling mistake on this page, please email me, and try not to rub it in.
I'm going to have to wrap this up pretty soon, as it's starting to look like I'm my own biggest fan. Before I do, I'm going to share with you the single greatest secret to my success...showers! It's where all the ideas happen and are generated. So if we ever have the chance to meet, yes, I am the reason why cities now have water meters, and yes, that probably is soap behind my ears.
